I have about 750 albums ripped on the US, in WAV format, plus about one hundred albums in high res in the downloads folder.Ĭould I simply copy across the Unitiserve backup and use this as the source for ripped music for Asset ?

I’m not very familiar with this sort of thing, would greatly appreciate if anyone could answer a couple of basic set up questions. Music, videos and images from: your Android device local storage standalone UPnP / DLNA media servers: Kodi, Serviio, Plex, MinimServer, Asset UPnP, JRiver. I’m quite familiar with the Synology interface so would be looking to run something like Asset, on a new NAS, (the existing one is over 8 years old). I have an old Synology NAS which I u se for backing up the Unitiserve and just data storage. I currently have a unitiserve 2TB which is fine, but as it’s 9 years old I am starting to think about a replacement whilst the going is good.

Re: Asset Upnp for Synology It would have to be the local path, if you SSH into the synology and browse to the location of your music, such as: cd /usr/ with the correct path (usr was just an example), once you can see your music, that is the path you need to enter into asset. I tried Minimserver for a while until Illustrate released an Asset for Synology. Its so so easy to install, simple to learn & optimise to whatever you want & a delight to use.

We already have Asset installed and have scanned a folder containing approximately two hundred songs in Flac format. Asset UPnP for me, yu must get the full version, it does it all & more, 24/192, DSD & all (& more) of the lesser formats, so much more to list. Since this is a music metadata blog we are currently just concentrating on the metadata features rather than control of the media renderer. We are also going to do a br ief compar ison with another popular UPnP server called Asset just to show what difference it makes using a different media server. Media Server provides a multimedia service for you to browse and play the multimedia contents on Synology NAS via DLNA/UPnP home devices.
